Yes, yes, and YES! I first used the Myers-Briggs scale to realize that I was perfectly fine, just an adopted kid in a house of extraverts that always seemed “wrong” to me. The MBTI pretty much saved my sanity because at least I was a type, and if there were more like me, well … I might be different but I was probably OK.
As I aged, though, I realized that the term “ambivert” really fits, for all the reasons in this excellent article. I learned to adapt, I became a professional public speaker, I regularly teach classes in communication, but yes: When I’m done, I’m done. I rebuild from inside myself.
I love doing what I do, and I then run home to be alone with my two small dogs.
