There is always another way to make something work, Joe Varadi, and your example shows a good one.

Remember, I just promote the use of the Oxford comma; I don’t demand it and I sure don’t demand that anyone write so that it might be needed. Like any specialist, I show what I know, and if a client wants to make changes, we just try to ensure that the writing will still be clear to most readers.
