As a copyeditor, I’m usually on the other side, trying to help make sense of what someone else has written (although I do blog).
You make some valid points here, with the best one for me being point #7. Would Someone Who Knows Little About ___ Understand What I Wrote?
My term for this is jargonese — and yes, I’ve written a post about that topic. It can be hard for some writers to realize that their readers really don’t know what industry terms mean because the writers are immersed in their own world every day. It’s normal for them, but not so much for the rest of us.
My favorite way of explaining that is this:
Don’t ask “How smart is she?”
Do ask “How is she smart?”
