I Hope Yule Love the Friday Funday Pics Today!

The problem — such a problem, right? — is the number of holidays we celebrate at this time of the year! Growing up as I did, the two I was most familiar with were Chanukah (Hanukkah) and Christmas. Our world felt smaller in the 1950s/’60s, and many of us hadn’t even met someone of a different faith who celebrated a different holiday.

Now? We’ve seen men ON the moon, taking pictures and showing us how small our blue planet really is. We’ve had the Internet / World Wide Web around for public use for nearly 30 years, long enough for many to have born AFTER its inception and barely aware of a time before it existed.

And we’ve had a chance to not only be aware of, but also be in touch with those whose lives are 100% different from ours! We see different kinds of names, we learn of different religious beliefs, and we learn — most of us, anyway — that despite all that, we’re still ONE family of beings called humans.

And we take the love, understanding, acceptance, joy, and fun where we find it. We rejoice in our common needs for those things. That’s one reason I’ve held fast to my Friday Funday posts, knowing that while specific humor isn’t universal, we…
